Think I finally found a way to categorize civilizations in my SciFi novel-the Kardashev Scale. It is based on the energy controlled by a civilization. Type I civilizations control the amount of power the sun radiates upon the Earth. We are 75% there. Type II civilizations control power equivalent to the output of the Sun-already this is beyond even Star Trek humans level energy scales. Type III civilizations exert power of galactic magnitude and scale, *Type IV civilizations exert intergalactic scales of power and magnitude. Type V civilizations affect change on a Universal scale, and are akin to the Q of Star Trek. They are, effectively-omnipotent. Type VI civilizations consist of gods in all but name, and can create whole new universes and visit parallel dimensions.*the original scale only goes to type III, from here on is my extrapolation for my book.
