Think about it. Most anti-capitalists believe that we need government intervention to PREVENT monopolies. However in truth the opposite is the case. The truth is that the very ORIGIN of the term monopoly - indeed one purpose of GOVERNMENT was to PROTECT certain companies FROM competition - especially during the days of the British East India Company. A monopoly rarely can exist WITHOUT ACTIVE GOVERNMENT INTERVENTION. It is government that secures a monopoly via regulations that are user friendly to the monopoly at the exclusion of competition. And we know that most markets are not truly free as government interferes with them routinely thinking it always knows better than what a willing buyer and willing seller can negotiate independently for themselves.
