Think on this!! My devotion... Psalm 68 1May God arise, may his enemies be scattered; may his foes flee before him. 2 May you blow them away like smoke—as wax melts before the fire, may the wicked perish before God. 3 But may the righteous be glad and rejoice before God; may they be happy and joyful. 4 Sing to God, sing in praise of his name, extol him who rides on the clouds[b]; rejoice before him—his name is the Lord. 5 A father to the fatherless, a defender of widows, is God in his holy dwelling. 6 God sets the lonely in families,[c] he leads out the prisoners with singing; but the rebellious live in a sun-scorched land. Let God arise!” That should be the passion, the desire, and the cry of our hearts, that God would arise and manifest Himself and His power among us. How we need God to arise and intervene in our nation and throughout the world! We need God to arise and restore our families. We need Him to assert Himself and His lordship in our lives that we might walk in holiness and live in a way that glorifies Him. Three general themes are reflected when God arises and manifests His presence and power. 1. He rebukes the rebellious. When God arises, His enemies will be scattered. Those who stand in opposition to Him will flee and be driven away as smoke. He will judge those who, in their arrogance and conceit, have exalted themselves and ignored God’s claim over their lives. He will shatter them because of their evil deeds. 2. He rewards the righteous. When God arises, those who love the Lord will rejoice and sing praises, for He is their righteousness. He will reward them for their faithfulness and devotion, leading them in blessing and prosperity. He gives strength and power to His people and to those who acknowledge and ascribe the strength and glory that are due His name. 3. He restores the rejected. When God arises and reveals Himself, those who are the outcast, rejected, and despised will be those to whom He responds and with grace restores to a place of favor. He becomes an advocate for the widow, a father of the orphan; He provides a home for the lonely and leads the prisoner to prosperity. He is a God of deliverance who daily bears our burdens. We need God to arise and assert His lordship in our lives that we might walk in holiness and live in a way that glorifies Him. How awesome to think that every day God is taking our burdens upon Himself. He did not just save us from sin by His one-time death on the cross; God is our salvation. Constantly, every day, He is saving us from that which would discourage us, the temptations that would defile us, and the doubts that threaten to erode our faith. He bears the stress of a schedule that is out of control, the burden of a dysfunctional family, and the discouragement of a debilitating illness or a strained relationship. When we stop and meditate on all the wondrous works of God, as the psalmist did, we are reminded of His strength and power and majesty. He brought His people through the wilderness, brought rain to the parched land, scattered the forces of opposition, and revealed His holiness at Mount Sinai. When God arises, His strength and presence are like myriads of chariots. He rides upon the highest heavens, and all the kingdoms of the earth will recognize His power and sing praise to His name. Ask Christ into heart today!! Then begin to live for Him everyday.
