Think we played well for most of the game. For a twenty minute period in the 1st half the piss-poor ref got into our players heads and we lost our way. Found it again in the 2nd half but just as May was getting into the game, SG goes and makes the most baffling substitution Ive ever seen. Atdhe and May were gelling for the first time in the game, May was testing the keeper but we were painfully short of pace out wide. It needed Helan bringing on for Semedo, McGuire to drop into midfield, Maghoma to come onto the right and Helan go out wide left (were he provided a real threat late in the game even if he was running from fb). Instead he throws Madine into the front line, breaking up May and Atdhe just as they were clicking together. Result: confusion up front until injury time. Im a big admirer of the job SG has done but his substitutions leave me bewildered sometimes. We shouldve got something from this game.
