Thinkin: I dont know if you all realize it. But, the world has changed a good deal since we uz younguns. The fault is largely due to the 60s generation, that bled on into the 70s. Im ashamed of us a little. I dont blame everybody. Not all took part. But there was more than one member ot the Southern Baptist, Church of Christ, Church of Gods, and all their Sister Denominations, participating right along with the rest of the confused and poorly raised, rabble of the time. I dont have time tonight to shine the light on all the irony of that period as it grew forward, but let me point out that what hair James Taylor has left is cut short now. there are a few die hards that still cling to the barest vestiges of that era, long hair, distrust of the system and that lets grow a garden and live off the land, play stringed instruments and sing bad harmony till the beer runs out, sort of attitude, but all the wind has gone out of it as we stand in awe of the shocking path our legacy has taken. It was like a horse that ran plumb out from under us, not all at once, but a little at a time while we raked our fingernails through his hide from his withers to his hauches. Till finally we found ourselves lying on our belly in the dust heads raised looking after him and thinking what the h---. Maybe it is like that with every generation, but I have only lived in this one. What is sure, is that our generation (and dont be offended if you didnt take part) made a sincere contribution to the demise, no, make that the desication of morality in the world. I would think an apology was in order had the filthy ball not been so readily picked up and advanced down the field by our successors. I wish we could turn the clock back, but I cant figure how far would be far enough. In my studies, there has always been great sins of the generations,( oh alright, call them wrongs, if your offended by the religious overtones). I guess our wrongs maybe werent worse, they were just different. And maybe it is not that the world itself has gotten so much worse. But if you take a pasture full of cow turds and put them up close together it sure seems you get a lot more stink. The towns are bigger and the world is smaller. It used to be that the commanding general had a hard time seeing what was going on in his theater of battle. Now we can watch it on the news in real time. Evil is realtive, and it gets bigger the closer it gets. Everything is just closer. :-)
