Thinking about Bruce Lee in James Garners excellent - TopicsExpress

Thinking about Bruce Lee in James Garners excellent private-detective film MARLOWE (based on Raymond Chandlers THE LITTLE SISTER) . . . The films screen writer Stirling Silliphant told me that he took martial arts lessons from Bruce, and that was how Bruce came to be in MARLOWE in that hilarious scene where Bruce destroys James Garners office while Garner watches fatalistically. Stirling then hired Bruce to be a supporting player in LONGSTREET, Stirlings 1970s TV series about a blind detective. One episode from that series, The Way of the Intercepting Fist, became a classic among martial-arts devotees because the plot is about Bruce teaching martial arts to a blind man.
