Thinking about all the people I know, by far, the most successful - TopicsExpress

Thinking about all the people I know, by far, the most successful are the ones that have the highest level commitment and fanatic discipline to being great at what they do. I know a lot of people that get excited about something and then a week later are doing something totally different. They get all hyped up on that new thing and 2 weeks later they are doing something else. None of them seem to be any closer to achieving any of their dreams. They move laterally, not forward. They often wonder why they arent achieving their goals. It is because long term success requires decisiveness. The people I know that have done amazing things are the ones that picked something, worked at it every day, and NEVER quit under ANY circumstance. You need absolute fanatic discipline to get through difficult times as you will have to be your own cheerleader often. Most will question what you do. Most will try to bring you down (until you make it, then they kiss your rear). But, by being committed, adaptable, willing to learn from mistakes, and be disciplined, you will go very far. I am a very strong believer in commitment and it is something I look for when bringing people into my organization. I would never hire someone who I didnt think was 110% solid in EVERY situation. Even one sign of weakness and I lose interest. If a situation can take you to the breaking point, but you can hold fast, that is the real test of character. Most quit. But real, lasting success is earned over time. It requires many extremely hard trials and tribulations. There are many moments where most would say that you should get out. No one accomplished anything great without perseverance. There is a very fine line between being slightly delusional and being persistent. Being able to walk it is the key. I myself have made many mistakes out of delusion, but learned enough along the way to correct course. I see many make this same mistake every day. It is easy to delude oneself. It is also risky and scary to walk into uncertainty. Especially when leveler heads tell you not to. We are all afraid to take risks, but the fear propels us and makes us stronger. Maybe delusion is just a natural way of dealing with that fear? I solely and concretely believe one of the core reasons Ive been very successful at many things is that I never quit. I kept adapting. I came up with a lot of talented people that wanted to do the same thing that I did. It wasnt that I was the most talented or anywhere near the most gifted. It was the fact that I am still here and they all gave up at some point. Apparently it wasnt what they really wanted to do, even know they all deluded themselves into thinking so. I just wanted to be great at something and am still working hard and trying to become that to this day. So, in a nutshell, learn to be absolute in your resolve, fearless in your goals, and wary of self delusion. True commitment will take you far. None of these are easy things to do. All of the extremely successful people I can think of share these same characteristics.
