Thinking about engines again! that a jet engine with no axle for air compression at the front of the engine through the combustion chamber as well as the turbine section at the back which drives the compression section at the front, could be rotated from the outer caseing of the engine, with the turbines throughout the engine folding in with increasing velocity to reach ram jet speeds, combined with hydrogen fuel and oxidiser for ignition as the engine passes through upper layers of the atmosphere, a single stage to orbit engine :)
