Thinking about how we used to put up corn for the winter. We would pick it by hand, husk it and toss it in a wagon. We would cut and bind the stalks into fodder shocks. If you found a red ear you would get a cup of cider. Wishing I was in the field today. Indian Corn I planted corn on land My heart will never call its own And let it stand Long after frost in withered rows-- Dead men that shiver in the cold And grin, barring teeth, Black, orange and gold, On tattered husks Bleached by the wind... --The Wandering Aengus
