Thinking of Kurt today, since its the anniversary that I commemorate. Guitar based rock in the mainstream had been rubbish for 10-15 years before Nirvana came along, and most of what came afterwards, especially anything labelled alternative rock was and is pretty horrendous. In his short life he reminded us all that heavy guitars, energy, aggression, and a catchy tune cant be beaten. We could probably do with someone like that more than ever, but it cant and wont ever be a commodity that can be manufactured.
