Thinking of our Brummy accent , my son works for the government and lived in London . On a visit there he took me to Selfridges for lunch . I noticed that most people were ....well lets just say a bit ..... Upper class ? Anyway , I wasnt really that hungry but noticed they did a Childs menu . The waiter arrived to take our order complete with a white cloth over his arm . My son told him what he wanted , the waiter then said .... And for Madam ? all I said was .... Can I order something from the childs menu ? .... Well you would have thought the baddy had just banged open the saloon bar gates ! Silence.... everybody went quiet and stared at me :-O ... I realised it was my accent . Pffff I didnt care . The waiter said he would have to enquire .... Eh ? ... To there credit they obliged me . But then when it arrived and I then asked for bread and butter ... Silence again :) I think my son was praying I wouldnt make a chip butty :) Have any of you had an experience regarding your Brummy accent ? :)
