Thinking on digital and material. We are using an awful lot of material products. Each year we also use more and more digital products. Material things - even very odd ones, like packaging or tooth sticks, used condoms or last weeks paper - they still contribute something to the real image of the world. Some of them will live a long life as antiques, or art objects, or archeological artifacts. Digital things are changing and evolving; they actually never are the same. As you use a material thing, its aging with your use - may notice scratches even on a diamond. When you use a digital thing, you help to change it - coding a newer version, changing design etc - based on the analysis that is being done with all good digital things. Material things are a melted results of the human knowledge at a present date, at the moment when a thing is designed, engineered and produced. Digital things are a process, even if they may become fixed, stored as a digital photo. But when you need it, and the computer reads it from a storage and displays to you - the digital thing is different. It has a feature to remember how often someone accessed it; it may be opened and manipulated to the screen for you by a software that is different from the one that created a digital thing. Material things solidify your relations with the past and present. Digital things are now and their past importance is a content feature, rather than a nature of the object. When the humans let digital things become a part of their life (like email first, pieces of software that fulfilled some routine tasks, the internet communication and further), that unwillingly unleashed a strange form of life to reside in the interpreting and communicating devices. As those devices are getting closer and closer (smartphones, wearables), were getting more obsessed with their presence in our life, then we ever allowed material things to be. Yet, I cannot make a reasonable conclusion from this understanding. But something in this line of thought is very important. Digital things are live transformers that tend to change as we interact with them. Material things are generally dead spices.
