Thinking out Aloud.........! Facts are sacred ..; Comments free......! As we go about the current electioneering campaigns, many a supporter will dream up stories, schemes and tricks( both stale and current , or new ), to either enhance the chances of their Principals at the pool. Others will be doing exactly so to stuff their pockets and feed their gluttony. Its not entirely new , nor peculiar to our State and people. As its been said, all is fair in love and war. Politics is not a war by any standard. Rather its more of a game akin to sports, and as in all sports, the true sportsmanship spirit demands that both the winner and the looser(s), should hug themselves, shake hands, and move on. This is best examplified by the teamwork of all political parties after the nomination. Everybody collapses their various campaigns, to work the party candidate. Its a rule of the game anchored on the philosophy of No Victor , no vanquished . Now , my beef is not with the key players , who on their own violation stepped into the ring. They variously know the rules of the game . I have something with the chorus of fans, supporters, hangers on as well as a handful of hungry, dubious and mischievous media practitioners who try to sow seeds of discord among the different camps and by implications, the people of the State. For a reporter to deliberately distort a report is not propaganda, but an outright lie, and is meant to misinform the persons concerned and the larger public. This is a crime and disservice to your profession, motherland and humanity. Let your conscience be nurtured and guided by truth. Let every member of this profession (which Am proud to belong to ), be bold, honest and responsible in the discharge of their obligations. To see somebody report that what happened at Uyo on teusday following the mishandling of the crowd of supporters at the declaration of interest by Mr. Udom Emmanuel as the planned handiwork of opposing camps is not only a lie, but mischievous and criminal. I dont know how that sits work those fingered, but I believe its contemptible before the law, and such a reporter should be made go face the law. Andy K. Andy. Houston , Texas. 10 / 23/ 2014.
