Third, fourth, and fifth grade students have been doodling for weeks on designs they individually created to communicate a word, name, or idea. Using black sharpies, students traced their designs which was composed of different types of lines, shapes,and visual textures. Students discussed these elements of art and were challenged to repeat a selection of colors to build a unified composition. The project was designed to challenge students to think creatively, build perseverance skills, and develop positive self-esteem.
