During the 10 months of running my business purely through Facebook I have found many things that do work to get my likers engaged and a few that don’t generate much interest. The more active your fans are (liking photos, commenting, sharing etc.) the more exposure and more your page will attract. When posting out my orders I like to make them feel personalised and made for the individual person. In every parcel I post I include a small note and every now and then I put in a little surprise to thank my customers for supporting me. I feel that this is important as most small businesses get bigger simply by “word of mouth” and if customers are unhappier it will affect your business. I do run the odd giveaway when I reach milestones, on my birthday I offer free postage for the week after the date and just recently I did a ROAK. I find vary what you offer as prizes and how you offer it are important in engaging your likers. Being approachable and open to suggestions/ideas from customers is important as it makes customers more than likely to remember the service you gave them and come back again in the future. I, just this week, introduced myself to my likers and told them why I do what I do and my favourite parts about it, I found that this got many likes and comments as my likers were happy to see the face behind the business. With my posts, I generally post products at night. I’ve noticed that that is when my followers are most active and then have a morning post every morning as I find this engages people as it’s not seen as strictly business. At the end of the day, it is all based on trial and error. Have an idea? Try it. If it works, continue, if not, move on and try something else. It takes a while to get your business up off the ground but once you get started, take it in both hands and make it the best you can.
