Third promise of the Sacred heart..I will console them in all their pains and trials. Prayer: In pain have we entered into the world and by the sweat of our brow are we to earn our daily bread.It were better that we be in travail and agony here below so that by our sufferings we may be able to coin Heavenly rewards for ourselves, that we may be able to show and prove our love for Christ. It is not so difficult to recite prayers.It is not hard to listen to pleasant sermons. It is not always difficult to be faithful to our duties when there is not special price put on our fidelity. But, when the cross appears, when we are called upon to make sacrifices, then is courage in demand. Our physical lives are at times burdensome. So often we must suffer and groan in agony. As the years of youth slip away, we feel more this gradual approach of disintegration as our body begins to break up. Pain racks so many; disease takes toll of countless sterling characters. Where once beauty and fair features were in evidence sufferings have emaciated and disfigured and what remains, is a physical wreck. So many thousands are in the throes of mortal agony even at this moment, men and women who once enjoyed the bloom of youth. We need the assurance of help. We all best appreciate divine assistance when the cross weighs heavily on our shoulders. We all need aid and consolation to soothe and encourage us when the path of life becomes littered with trials, physical,mental and especially spiritual. It is in these difficulties that the Sacred heart has promised to be our companion; it is in these hours of distress that He promise to be our comforter and consoler.. AMEN!!!!.
