Thirteen years ago at about 9pm, I began a Bone Marrow Transplant that lasted past midnight into May 26th. An active duty Army sergeant in Iraq reluctantly gave up his squad to be flown to Walter Reed Army Medical Center to have his marrow extracted. It was then rushed to Tampa to the Moffitt Cancer Center where I received his marrow. It looks just like any other blood and is given by a Transfusion and miraculously finds its way to the the receivers bones. Thirteen years ago, I was given a second chance, for if they had not found a match, I would have died of Leukemia (AML) within months. Sign up to be a Bone Marrow Donor, you could be the one to give another a second chance. A swab inside the cheek is all it takes. with Rosemary Valenza-Coriaty
