Thirteen years ago today we suffered a tremendous loss that still leaves us reeling. My thoughts and prayers are with those who lost loved ones and whose lives were irrevocably changed. I want to extend my gratitude and thanks to all the heroes who helped in the relief efforts. For those who became ill as a result of their extraordinary efforts at Ground Zero, I was proud to author the James Zadroga 9/11 Health and Compensation Act, which provides health care and economic assistance to the first responders and survivors who became sick from the toxic conditions in around Ground Zero. Their contributions must never be forgotten and Im working to make sure that their benefits are not lost.
