Thirty-three years ago today (or maybe tomorrow or yesterday, but close enough), a big truck pulled up in front of my little white apartment building on Capitol Avenue in Hartford, scooped up all my books, LPs & other belongings that werent nailed down & took them away. I wouldnt see them again until we met in Philadelphia the following week. It was the real beginning of my great lifes adventures. (Another start of a great adventure took place 28 years ago Saturday, but thats for a later post.) Anyway, the same process of transferring my life to Philly will take place next Monday with a few key differences: No LPs this time; Im sharing belongings with somebody else & Im a somewhat different person from the one who left home back then. (Later than I probably should have but, again, another discussion for another time.) My conscious mind had been so engaged in gathering & packing & transferring stuff that my subconscious has been off the leash. For example, the following song popped into my head this morning & I have no idea whatsoever what its doing there, even though it was very much in the air early in my first Philadelphia hitch. Ill let you figure it out. Ive got work to do.
