This 7 month old donkey foal, along with his brother (an 18 month old colt) were being ridden by many children around a housing estate in Ireland. They were rescued by Fiona, the gutsy lady we have spoken of before in our Newsletters. Fiona goes in to these estates and traveller sites, educating on animal welfare, providing free worm, flea and lice treatment for horses and dogs. She reduces the numbers of dogs by neutering many pets and rehoming excess dogs and puppies and she is making a real difference. Hence, since she was none too happy to see these poor childrens toys she text me and asked if F.A.I.T.H. would help as she was unable to house them long term. I love donkeys and miss our old rescue donkey, Twinkle and so I agreed and we made arrangements for them to come here. They were exhausted and starving when Fiona picked them up but they settled in well with her aged pet cow (see photo) Over the weekend, one of our staff members, Becky, and her husband took their trailer and collected them. They both boxed and travelled well (the donkeys that is) We have been keeping an eye out and waiting for donkeys years to rescue another donkey since Twinkle passed away. But unfortunately all the ones from mainland Britain always went to other larger charities. I hope our visitors will enjoy fussing them once they are settled.
