This Book/Movie saved my life. I found the book #TheReader on the shelf of the coffee shop I worked at prior losing my job, and my hands started trembling as I read the synopsis on the back cover. I thought I would end up in prison for life too for comparably dumb reasons like I was too embarrassed to admit I needed help. I was embarrassed to engage the local #mentalhealth system, embarrassed to admit I was chronically depressed, anxious, having paranoid delusions & afraid of everything under the sun at the time. I thought I was going to be #homeless, #poor, #mentallyill, eating out of trash cans, and selling my body just for food and basic needs. I am poor, and engaging the mental-wellness system, I havent eaten out of a trash can yet, thank God, or had to sell my body for food...but this movie taught me that embarrassment about asking for help is a preventable reason to spend your life in prison. Thank you Bernhard Schlink for writing this book, and #DavidHare and Stephen Daldry for the screenplay & beautiful movie with Kate Winslet, David Kross, and Ralph Fiennes. You gave me the courage to ask for help. Thank you. I would like to share my story on the #Ellen show or the some news source. Please help me. #Oprah #NPR #CNN #WoodTV8
