This Christmas, I wanted to take the opportunity to ask each of you to take a moment to remember the many brave men and women who are unable to spend the holiday season with their loved ones because they are defending our liberties across the globe. They make this sacrifice to uphold the honor, freedom and liberty that is the United States of America. Our soldiers and their families have answered the call, and for that we should forever be grateful. While it may not diminish the pain of their absence, they should rest easy knowing they are part of a legacy of heroism and bravery that began with General Washington and the birth of our great nation. Their defense of liberty allows my family, like many others, to celebrate our Christian faith on Christmas (and every other day!), and every other person in the United States to choose as they see fit. They protect our Constitutional Republic, and the freedom and liberties granted therein. For that noble calling, I ask that you take a moment and thank a military family that you know (or if you are one, thank you!) for giving us this precious gift of freedom. And I will do my part by voting in favor of legislation that will protect them, as they have protected us. While any bill is but a drop in the bucket in repaying their sacrifice, we must do what we can to ensure these heroes are treated with honor. Too often, the holidays arrive in a flurry of gift buying, decorating, and parties---and we forget the sacrifice others are making so that we may enjoy these hurried but precious moments. I just wanted to take a moment to remember that sacrifice and to let our military and their families know that folks all across the Third District of Florida are thinking of them and grateful for them this holiday season. It is because of them, that we are able to pray, celebrate, and worship how we choose. Merry Christmas and have a safe and Happy New Year!
