This DR. Phil is killing me! Its so easy to pass judgement when you have not walked in someones shoes....and dealt with state employees who are stressed to the max trying to help those in need with limited resources, parents and caregivers who are sleeping with one eye open and on constant alert because their child with autism or a brain injury is wandering off, growing combative, or having on going medical and developmental issues that little can be done to help change the known outcome.... A woman was at the end of her rope with her violent autistic child, according to mom she had been beaten by the daughter, the child was being repeatedly pulled out of schools and programs that should of and could of helped relieve some of the families pressure....did the unthinkable...she and her daughter climbed into a van and the mom lit two gas grills in order to end their lifes so that all the pain could end. Was this wrong? Absolutely! Theres no arguing that it was wrong but what about all the cracks this family fell thru? With so many children being diagnosed with autism and resources already being so limited... What will the end result be? This is a case of attempted murder....but why does my heart break for this mother and child....backed into a corner....feeling that death was the only choice....and the only way out of living in hell....or is this the case of a parent sick of caring for her special needs child? Due to lack of intervention we only have the moms version of the story.. Our system is horribly horribly flawed and more cases like this will occur if something doesnt change quickly!!!!!
