This Day In Hockey History for March 10th… → 1903 - Ottawa Silver 7 beat Montreal AAA 8-0 for the Stanley Cup. → 1913 - Quebec Bulldogs sweep Sydney Nova Scotia Millionaires in 2 games for the Stanley Cup. → 1920 - In a 10-4 win over Ottawa, Quebec Bulldogs center Joe Malone became the first player in NHL history to score six goals in a game twice in a season. Six weeks earlier he scored seven goals, also against Ottawa. → 1921 - George Boucher became the first NHL defenseman to score a playoff hat trick as the Ottawa Senators beat Toronto in Game 1 of their Stanley Cup Semi-Final series. → 1934 - Toronto Maple Leafs achieve longest undefeated streak in their history, winning or tying 18 games in a row. → 1955 - Toronto played at Montreal, but the star of the game was the Zamboni. The ice resurfacing machine made its NHL debut on this night. → 1980 - NY Islanders obtained center Butch Goring from the L.A. Kings for Dave Lewis and Billy Harris. After the acquisition of Goring, the Islanders went undefeated in their last 12 regular season games, and went on to win their first of four consecutive Stanley Cups. → 1980 - Buffalo Sabres traded defenseman Jerry Korab to Los Angeles in exchange for the Kings first round pick in 1982. The pick was later used to select Phil Housley. → 1987 - L.A. Kings traded the franchises all time leading scorer Marcel Dionne to the New York Rangers in exchange for Tom Laidlaw and Bobby Carpenter. → 1988 - NY Islanders celebrate Mike Bossy night. → 1992 - Goalie Ray LeBlanc led the Blackhawks to a 5-1 win over the San Jose Sharks, in Chicago, in his NHL debut (at age 27) -- in his 8th season of pro hockey. → 1994 - Calgary traded Gary Suter, Paul Ranheim and Ted Drury to the Hartford Whalers in exchange for James Patrick, Zarley Zalapski and Michael Nylander. → 2000 - Tampa Bay Lightning captain Chris Gratton was traded to the Buffalo Sabres in exchange for Brian Holzinger, Wayne Primeau and Cory Sarich. → 2002 - Evgeni Nabokov became the 7th NHL goaltender to score a goal, and the first to get a power play goal, when he hit an empty-net with 47.2 seconds to play in the Sharks 7-4 win over the Canucks at Vancouver. → Happy Birthdays to: Mike Bullard, Andy Sutton, Doug Lecuyer, Tim Brent, John Markell, Stu Kulak, Stephen Peat, Christian Hanson and Tuukka Rask…Ω
