This Day In Music 21 January, 1966: George Harrison married arguably the greatest muse in the history of rock music, Pattie Boyd at Leatherhead Register Office in Surrey with Paul McCartney as best man. George had first met Pattie on the set of The Beatles movie A Hard Days Night. She had an affair first with Ronnie Wood, and finally left Harrison in the 1975, because of his myriad infidelities. She started an affair with Harrisons friend Eric Clapton, who pursued her even while she and Harrison were still married. She and Clapton married in May 1979, but split in 1988. Among the songs inspired by Pattie were For You Blue, Its All Too Much & Something, all by The Beatles; Layla and Why Does Love Got To Be So Sad, by Derek & The Dominoes and You Look Wonderful Tonight, by Eric Clapton. Harrisons song, Something was noted by Frank Sinatra as One of the greatest love songs of the modern era and his favorite Lennon-McCartney song (of course it wasnt written by Lennon-McCartney). Happy Anniversary George and Pattie. Thanks for the tunes. youtu.be/FX92FJ-lwXI
