This Day in Black History, February 21, 1965: The celebrated American Muslim minister and human rights activist, Malcolm X, was killed in the Audubon Ballroom in Harlem as he was preparing to address the Organization of Afro-American Unity. Malcolm X was considered by his admirers to be a courageous advocate for the rights of African-Americans. His detractors criticized him for indicting white America in harsh terms for its crimes against Black Americans
