This Friday March 28 to Sunday 6 April, Dick and I will be supporting 60 + riders riding to cure cancer on Tour de Cure’s Signature Tour. They will be riding 1,576km from Sydney to Hobart. With the statistic that “1 in 3 cancers are preventable”, we ride not only to raise money to find a cure for every type of cancer but also to raise community awareness. During the tour we will share Tour de Cure’s ‘BE FIT - BE HEALTHY - BE HAPPY’ cancer awareness message with over 5,000 school kids. Also, each night we will present a $5,000 cheque to a local cancer research, support or prevention project that directly helps that community. We need money for research and although Dick and I have reached our target we all know that how important it is to continue raising money and you can still donate. Dont forget to leave a message too. Dick and I are passionate about this and do it to honour our precious grandson, Conor, who lost his life to this disease. Today I also have a niece, in her thirties, beginning her treatment for breast cancer and my sister in law is on her journey fighting breast cancer for the third time. Sunrise on channel 7 covers the Tour each morning so you can tune in and see how we are going. We will have long days and will be tired, but from experience I know that this tiredness will be nothing compared to those who are on the cancer train. I also know that being part of this tour will be an amazing experience.
