This Friday in Math Club (November 22, 5pm in Minard 112), Erin Brownlee will be speaking on the Golden Ratio. Erin is an excellent speaker. Be there for some great mathematics and pizza! Title: The Golden Ratio Abstract: Considered by many to be the most beautiful number, the Golden Ratio (or to some, the Divine Proportion) can be found in art, architecture, biology, plant-life, astronomy, music, modern design, and more! We will explore its history and many of its astounding mathematical properties, as well as its appearance in some seemingly unrelated areas. This talk requires only the most basic high-school-level geometry and algebra.
