This Garner things tough. Yes he was illegally selling cigarettes in a park, and had been warned many times not to. Yes he was hurting legal businesses on the street by doing so. Yes he resisted arrest. Yes he was huge. But .... yes so he should die? This isnt America... This isnt what our forefathers built this country to become. But its heading that way. Yes by far the vast majority of cops are good people working to serve and protect. Yes its got to be frustrating when a guy wont just submit when hes broken the law. But .... this guy choked him to get him down on the ground, then continued to choke him until he died. And no charges will ever be filed. Im sorry, but my job sucks a lot of days too -- doesnt mean I can just overreact and do whatever I want. If I do -- I get fired, reprimanded, demoted, something. Just a few alternate solutions off the top of my head - Maybe pile some guys on top of him once hes down? Maybe tase him? Maybe rubber bullets? Maybe even break his arm or leg? There were like 6 cops there. Seems like there were better ways to handle this. ACTUALLY.... maybe not have such ridiculously high cig taxes in New York that people will buy and sell them on the black market. Ah....... the crux of the problem.
