This Is a picture of myself at the door way out of the Pine Apartments heading for school. In those days to be cool you had to have longest pointed black shoes - Then came bell bottom pants and then to cords. Needless to say the Pine Apartments had the Church on one side and faced the school ground. On the other side was the wooden road heading up to 10th street. Just ahead of me was the cement border with asphalt play ground. In the winter you sure did not to hit this cement lip that ran around the border with your sleigh. This wooden road would be completely ice and snow. Made for the best sleigh run I have ever seen. On a Bob sleigh sometimes you would be able to slide right pass the school and continue to reach the Firehall if memory is correct. The minute school was out -- everyone would be on the sleigh run. For you to have right away you would shout track -- everyone would look as it was not fun to be hit.
