This Is the same woman who claimed Palestinians deserve to be dead - TopicsExpress

This Is the same woman who claimed Palestinians deserve to be dead And now, one month after those and a lifetime of mean and cruel jokes she has died. Here are my thoughts on her death. -------- Joan Rivers: To judge or not to judge? Im all for respecting the dead but that doesnt mean we have to start inflating their talents, overpraising their legacy, or just plain deluding ourselves about their public behaviour. Especially not for someone who made a living speaking ill of and mocking others to get cheap laughs. While many may say but it was just harmless humour! Nothing demeaning can ever remain so, especially not her comments in regards to the three women who were abducted and held in a basement by #ArielCastro for a decaded and raped throughout. When I mention that, suddenly shes not funny anymore because she mentioned a topic western, liberal, under-25 women are sensitive to. There are numerous other examples but I find this one alone is already sufficient. So Is it wrong if many people dont feel any need to respect this comedienne? As a social phenomenon, people often considering loathsome humour harmless are more-often-than-not those who were not directly offended by it. Sure, some immature men may find that funny. Heck, perhaps a lot of women who never experienced slavery and rape may, too. But how about a rape victim? How about those three victims? How must they feel about someone shamelessly trying to use their misery for a laugh in a bid of self-promotion? Is it really all that wrong to acknowledge her bad taste and objectionable humour? Even if you fall back on the libertarian-style safe zone of proclaiming well, as much as we hate it she should be allowed to say whatever she want. Okay, then why should her gratuitous aggression be given the clear while those who validly criticize her be shamed into submission? #JoanRivers, may you be judged by God for the way you were. If you were secretly a saint then may that be how youre treated. But if not, then I hope you get what is meant for you. Only God knows what will happen to you in the afterlife. In this life, We judge by the apparent, as per hadith. So its naive for some people to suggest that we shouldnt say anything negative or criticize her lifestyle when it could be used to draw an example or learn from. Obviously, this also means we shouldnt revert to name calling and such. Narrated Umar r.a. People were (sometimes) judged by the revealing of a Divine Inspiration during the lifetime of Allahs Apostle but now there is no longer any more (new revelation). Now we judge you by the deeds you practice publicly, so we will trust and favor the one who does good deeds in front of us, and we will not call him to account about what he is really doing in secret, for Allah will judge him for that; but we will not trust or believe the one who presents to us with an evil deed even if he claims that his intentions were good.
