This Mountain Scops Owl shows that a bird doesnt need to be colorful to be beautiful. Owls and their close relatives the nighthawks have some of the most splendidly detailed camouflage plumage. They use their intricately patterned feathers to remain unseen during the day. Owls that are unsuccessful at hiding themselves get mobbed by smaller birds. In fact one of the best ways for a human birdwatcher to get a glimpse of these shy creatures is by watching for a mob of loudly shrieking birds. ~ Britt
