This National Government really needs to go... not only do we have - TopicsExpress

This National Government really needs to go... not only do we have the secret squirrel mentality in our foreign trade deals but it is being exercised internally when ordinary New Zealanders try to access information that concerns us all. Welfare reform is about so much more that saving on benefit costs. As the Government and the Welfare Working Group both argued, its objectives are to improve the lives of ordinary New Zealanders. Publicly available monitoring and evaluation information on these outcomes – on what is happening in the real world outside Taylor Fry’s black box – is the only way we can judge the success or otherwise of the reforms. So why is the Ministry of Social Development hiding behind the Official Information Act to avoid telling us how they plan to do that? Are they only interested in cutting the fiscal liability? In 2011, (the day of the Christchurch earthquake actually ...) the government released the Welfare Working Group paper. I evaluated the document at that time hoping to educate enough people to avoid another 3 years of John Key and his cronies but the public at that time was not interested... enough. I have been extremely disappointed in the lack of response from community organisations and particularly Iwi. This article highlights the governments continued commitment to their secret squirrel mentality... this is yet another huge area of concern and a portfolio I have now taken on as ma baby with the Napier Pilot City , secret squirrels are fine just as long as they dont enter our Parliament! publicaddress.net/speaker/how-is-government-evaluating-its-welfare/
