This Remembrance Day we ask Australians everywhere to turn off - TopicsExpress

This Remembrance Day we ask Australians everywhere to turn off their phones and take a minute to remember all those who have died, suffered or risked their lives protecting Australias freedom. Go to minutetoremember.au to take part. You can also buy a virtual poppy at minutetoremember.au to help current and ex-serving members of the Australian Defence Force and their families in times of injury, illness or crisis. The Red Poppy has special significance for Australians. A symbol for Remembrance Day (11 November) each year, the red poppies were among the first to flower in the devastated battlefields of northern France and Belgium in the First World War. In soldiers’ folklore, the vivid red of the poppy came from the blood of their comrades soaking the ground.
