This SUNDAY EVENING! Save the Date: October 5 at 6:30 PM at the ROCK Greetings in the Lord, On Sunday, October 5 there will be a special and very important meeting at the ROCK at 6:30 PM. As you probably know on May 18, 2014, The Congregation of Oakdale UP Church held a Congregational Polling as part of the Presbyterys Discernment Process. The congregation voted 48 to leave the PCUSA and 22 to stay in the PCUSA. While a majority clearly desired to leave, the number of “Leave” votes failed to meet the Presbyterys required number for the congregation to leave the PCUSA together with its property intact. The Session has been in negotiations with the Presbytery appointed Administrative commission to negotiate a gracious settlement of this situation. We hope this will result in the Presbytery permitting the majority who wish to leave to receive and retain the ROCK building for future ministry there, while those who wish to remain PCUSA will retain the OUPC Building on the hill. But this will require your help. The Presbytery wishes to see that both future ministries will remain viable and active. This meeting on October 5th is to gather especially those who support leaving the PCUSA and who will support the current and future ministry at the ROCK. With attendance and giving for both OUPC and the ROCK down since the vote, it is essential that the Session know if there are people committed to making a future NON-PCUSA Ministry at the ROCK happen. We have been through a lot, come a long way, but have one more step to complete. Please stick with us a little longer and make it a priority to attend this meeting as we pray and discern the future God has in mind. The Presbyterys AC has voiced every intent to get a final proposal to their Board for approval in December. In Christ, Rev Mark R. Simonds, Moderator and The Session of the Oakdale United Presbyterian Church PS: The Session is also willing to host a similar meeting at a future date to be determined if desired, with those wishing to stay in the PCUSA as Part of the OUPC.
