This Saturday from 10 AM until 12:20 -- do the tour with a pro! Rain or shine - free and open t the public! Fungi, Foliage, and Fall Migrants with Bob Cooper Saturday, October 4, 2014 -- 10:00 AM to 12:30 PM Alasa Farms Join us at Alasa Farms as we walk along Second Creek and enjoy the foliage and fungi of the fall! Mushroom identification will be the primary focus of the walk. Since mushrooms can be scarce at times, well also look for fall migrating warblers and other birds, fall flowers, and add in a little tree identification as well. This walk will be led by retired naturalist from Cummings Nature Center, Bob Cooper, as he shares his enthusiasm about all things nature! Bring water, boots for possible wet conditions, appropriate clothing, binoculars (if available), and your kids (theyre welcome to visit Cracker Box Palaces animals, too!). Park and meet at the northern side of Shaker Tract Road, west of Thornton Point Road, in the field next to the peach orchard. Directions: From Rochester, follow Route 104 East, just past the town of Alton. Turn left (north) on Route 14. Turn right at the T-intersection onto Ridge Road and take an immediate left onto Shaker Road. Cracker Box Palace at Alasa Farms is on the right, but keep going until you reach the T-intersection with Shaker Tract Road (Red Mill Road). Cross Shaker Tract Road and park in the field, on firm ground to the left (west), next to the peach orchard.
