This Saturdays game Scot fc v Mk Titans is not going to be easy despite last weeks county cup gameShare on facebook Share on twitter Share on email 0 TITANic sinks again (B&B Cup) by Tom Diamond 10 men Scott Youth breeze past the pushover Titans. 21st Sept 2013 B&B Cup Round 1 Scott Youth V’s MK Titans Today’s starting line-up: Matt Fincher: Paul Gavin, Jack Leask, Adam Roberts, Josh Smith: Michael Agolini, Jamie Stubbs, Kieran Connolly, Robert Williams: Lee Gavin, Pete Cooper. Subs: Michael Taylor & Martin Watkins Contrasting match in that we reversed the efforts of the previous week. Titans had a good 1st half and deserved to be on top, but unlike the Marsh Gibbons game, Titans failed to even turn up in mind and body for the 2nd 45 minutes. With Scott Youth down to 10 men from the 42nd minute Titans failed to make the extra man count for anything. The opening exchanges were positive in that Titans made some very early opportunities to nudge ahead. A couple of goal mouth scrambles in the Scott Youth goal occurred in the opening 5 minutes, but somehow the ball stayed out. Only for Scott Youth to break out of midfield and out-muscle the Titans defence to ram home the opening goal. 1-0 Scott. Titans composed themselves and continued to take the game to Scott and really should’ve made more of the first half. In the 42nd minute a Scott player palmed the ball out of the goal to earn himself a red card and award Titans a penalty. Kieran Connolly stepped up and drove the ball into the top right corner. (No sign of the fumbling feet he displayed at Grendon 2 weeks previous) Half time: Score 1-1 In the opening minutes of the 2nd half Titans actually exerted some pressure on the Scott defence and the Scott Keeper needed to make some excellent saves to keep us out. Then in the 55th minute, a route 1 ball over the top from the keeper resulted in the Scott striker lofting the ball over Matt Fincher and Scott going 2-1 up. Titans were stunned to be 2-1 down to 10 men, even harder to take the fact we had created the better chances so far. Unable to compose themselves Titans were struck quickly again when the midfielder broke into the box and slid home the 3rd for Scott. 3-1 Scott. In the wake of dejected Titans players and void of any fight or concentration, the Scott number 7 collected the ball in his own half and ran the length of the pitch unchallenged. He calmly slotted the ball home to make it number 4. 61 minutes gone Scott 4 Titans 1. Sub 63 mins: Jack Leask for Martin Watkins Sub 68 mins: Robert Williams for Michael Taylor On 70 minutes Lee Gavin had his free kick pushed onto the bar by the Scott Keeper. However the match was over and Titans were a beaten unit. It did at times look like 12 versus 6 players in the favour of Scott Youth. The inevitable 5th came towards the end and the match ended Scott Youth 5 Titans 1. Easy to say, but Titans can only improve from here. Chances to score went begging, concentration levels were at an all-time low, closing down opposition player’s non-existent and passion absent. Good news is, it can only ever get better from here.
