This Southern Africa Water Wire fellowships documentary was produced by the Tasimba Film Group. Zimbabwe’s second city, Bulawayo, is vulnerable to droughts, with rainfall patterns varying sharply from one year to the next. Its average annual rainfall is 590mm. Despite these hostile climatic conditions, the city developed rapidly and attained city status in 1943 due to the immense natural resources in the area and as railways arrived to support mining, ranching and industrial activity. But with population growth and the urban expansion, the water situation in this city has reached crisis proportions. This docu-drama explores the challenges faced by the city’s residents in their work, home and social lives as a result of limited water supplies. More: bit.ly/1itPCcV
