This Sunday, September 21st: Give Me Your Tired, Your Poor, Your ... Harmed: Welcoming and Deeply Listening to Strangers - Susan Yarbrough The Judeo-Christian tradition commands us to welcome strangers and to love our neighbors as we love ourselves. It is impossible not to think about immigration these days, and as we do so, how we respond to the many strangers who are coming toward us from all over the world will be largely determined by how we welcome and accept the strangers we find within our own hearts and minds. It is through outer strangers that we learn about the inner parts of ourselves from which we are alienated and estranged. And when that happens, we begin to love ourselves and to welcome strangers as the sent gifts and teachers that they are. Susan Yarbrough is a retired U.S. immigration judge, who recently moved to Austin and is now a first-year seminarian at Meadville Lombard Theological School. Join us at 11:30 am for our weekly Sunday service. We meet in the sanctuary at Faith Presbyterian Church at 1314 E Oltorf St.
