This Sunday in RE at BUUF (11:15 Service) Preschool: Feeling Sad Preschool children need to know that everyone has sad feelings and that we are able to bring these sad feelings to our congregation. Being with others who are also sad, and sharing those feelings together, can often help people feel better. When someone has died, sharing our sad feelings together at a memorial service is one important part of being a community. Kindergarten & 1st Grade: The Gift of Acceptance We will learn about the intangible gift of acceptance, a particularly important gift because it makes sharing other intangible gifts possible. 2nd & 3rd Grade: Generosity: Give and Ye Shall Receive We will discuss generosity as an important spiritual discipline and religious act that is a central component of justice and goodness. It is based on the notion that generosity is a way of life which reaps benefit for both giver and receiver. 4th - 6th Grade: The Power of Peace We will explore the Blake covenant phrase to dwell together in peace. The story spotlights Mohandas Gandhi and Martin Luther King, Jr., two prophetic leaders who worked tirelessly for justice and change through nonviolence, and traces their inspiration back to Henry David Thoreau, a prophetic voice from our own Unitarian Universalist heritage. Junior High: Buddhism II - Right Living We will continue the exploration of Buddhism. We will learn additional fundamental concepts of Buddhism, and about Zen, a major branch of Buddhism. We will experience more deeply how Buddhist precepts appear in peoples lives and further explore Buddhisms ties to Unitarian Universalism.
