This Sunday, the people of St. Chrysostoms will pray in solidarity - TopicsExpress

This Sunday, the people of St. Chrysostoms will pray in solidarity with the people of our companion diocese, the Diocese of Renk, the Republic of South Sudan. What is God calling us to do? Our Presiding Bishop, Katherine Jefferts Schori, has called on us to do this in hopes that our prayers may be heard during this violent time in that emerging nation. We have transferred the Feast and Fast for the Martyrs of Sudan from May 16th to February 16th. Prayers continue Thursday, February 20th at 7:30, at All Saints Episcopal Church in Chicago. All are invited to attend. O God, steadfast in the midst of persecution, by your providence the blood of the martyrs is the seed of the Church: As the martyrs of the Sudan refused to abandon Christ even in the face of torture and death, and so by their sacrifice brought forth a plentiful harvest, may we, too, be steadfast in our faith in Jesus Christ; who with you and the Holy Spirit lives and reigns, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.
