This Sunday will mark the 45th anniversary of the first walk on the moon. Yes the cost was high (in lives and money), Yes there are people who still think its all a fraud, and yes it was solely to beat the soviets. We made great strides in science and found better uses for the science we already knew. I think one benefit, if I were to justify the efforts, was simply it sparked the imagination. Then what we imagined some came true. Interesting and a great thing to ponder ...at least to me. Back in the late 60s it did make an 8 year old wonder and all the rockets seemed tremendous.
