This, That, & More--My forever s-i-l left this morning after a week in the Big O. She came to help a teacher friend ready her room for the new school year. As always, w/us, its do your own thing-how & when you want -never any expectations. Safe travels back home for her & two of my 4 great nieces. Yesterday marked 15 years of the beginning of my journey (17 months) for hips & knees replacements. What a road it was & led to my independent living again. My s-i-l, niece, mama, & friends -----yes, it takes a village; & I continue to be grateful every day for not only my village, but my doctors, my health, & my faith. Also, yesterday was my rheumatologists (Dr WA Riley) birthday in heaven. He was the first doctor (Sept 1973) who gave me a definitive DX & significant pain relief from the RA. He injected 7 joints that first visit. I had suffered well over a year seeing two local drs as well as traveling to the arthritis clinic in Ardmore OK before mama found him in Big Spring. He saw me thru 6 hand surgeries, bilateral foot surgery, gall bladder, adverse drug reactions, numerous meds w/no relief, joint injections, a breakdown, loss of 2 husbands (one to divorce & another to death), & my dads passing. Many fellow patients didnt like his personality, & yes, I understood why. Mama & I discussed him many times. He passed in 91. How many times are we thrilled to make a connection or find someone from our past whom we wondered about, cared for, or wanted to tell them how they touched our lives??? So grateful for FB in the wee hours this a.m. (to find the brother & hear back from him) of a girl I met in the mid 70s. We had an instant connection & a short time later, she moved back to Roswell. Ive looked for her off & on all these years. Sadly she passed some years back. One last package of Fenton to ship...gonna need some man-power to move my elliptical out of the back bedroom to my great room & moms cedar chest out of the closet to into the room. Progress of some kind nearly every day, but the KEY to living w/chronic pain/illness/fatigue is pace-pace-pace.
