This Thursday, December 18, is INTERNATIONAL MIGRANTS DAY, established by the United Nations in 2000 to recognize the large and increasing number of migrants around the world. This day is important to highlight the human rights and dignity of all migrants, including those from Burma. To coincide with this important day, Burma Study Center has coordinated two special presentations of artist Clemence Barret’s innovative and immersive new work: “Pamaa: Refugee Life in Chiang Mai”. We will be joined by Clemence at the following screenings in Chiang Mai: • Pamaa: Refugee Life in Chiang Mai screening and discussion Thursday 18 December, 7:30 p.m., 60 baht admission (includes access to ‘Kachin 4x6’ exhibit) @ Documentary Arts Asia, 12/7 Wualai Road, Soi 3, Chiang Mai • Pamaa: Refugee Life in Chiang Mai screening and discussion Monday 22 December, 1:30 p.m., admission by donation @ Chiang Mai University, Faculty of Social Sciences, Lecture Hall 4107 As a bonus, the Thursday evening screening at Documentary Arts Asia will be your last chance to check-out the exhibition “Kachin 4x6” — a photographic collection of work from Kachin State, northern Burma, by six talented photographers: Hkun Li, Hkun Lat, Suthep Kritsanavarin, Taylor Weidman, Linh Pham, and Ryan Libre.
