This Thursday (November 13th) is National Pancreatic Cancer Day - TopicsExpress

This Thursday (November 13th) is National Pancreatic Cancer Day and that the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network (pancan.org) is asking everyone to wear Purple (Purple is the color for Pancreatic Cancer) on that day. If you are so inclined you can post a picture to Social Media using hash tag #PurpleforaPurpose to share with the nationwide network showing your support in of research on Pancreatic Cancer. Hope everyone wears Purple on Thursday!!! Some interesting facts from the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network that are a bit disturbing, but show the real need for additional research include and give me more motivation to fight this cancer: • Pancreatic cancer is the only major cancer that still has a five-year relative survival rate in the single digits – at just 6 percent. That is in stark contrast to the overall survival rate for cancer, which is now 67 percent. • There are no early detection tools or effective treatments. (Guess this is why they call it the silent cancer) • Even more alarming, pancreatic cancer is now estimated to become the second leading cause of cancer-related death in the United States by 2020. Please support Purple with a Purpose by the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network on Thursday (November 13th) by wearing Purple. Also, if you are so inclined please let your senator and representative know how important that this research be funded
