This Thursday teachers from the NUT & NASUWT unions in the North - TopicsExpress

This Thursday teachers from the NUT & NASUWT unions in the North West will be on strike over attacks to pay, pensions and conditions. They will be followed by other regional strikes and a national strike in autumn. The anger runs much deeper though: Michael Gove and the Coalition are breaking up public education and handing it over to private companies to make a profit. As well as pushing Free Schools and Academies they have changed legislation to allow non qualified staff to teach in them, they changed the pass grade boundaries for the English GCSE last year without notice meaning thousands of students got lower grades than predicted, and there are attempts to change the curriculum against the judgment of the teachers who teach it.
