This V.A. problem is more widespread than you may have heard on - TopicsExpress

This V.A. problem is more widespread than you may have heard on the news. It took me 8 months (a short time in V.A. time) to get accepted into the system (I wish i never did.) They NEVER answer their phones. It takes weeks to get a call back. The pharmacy cooks their books here in Colorado Springs by documenting they sent the scripts up to a week or 2 weeks prior to actually being sent. The different departments do the same. Its taken me from 2 to 6 months to get an appointment to see someone. I have only seen my new doctor once. Here name is Doctor Kilmar whom I now call Dr. Killmore. She came in as a new doctor and damn there killed me with all here treatment changes of a regimen that I have been on for 5 years now. 5 months ago I went downtown to fill out an application for a new doctor. I bet it went right in the trash can because no on shows any record of it. All these years I have been hearing from Doctors that not everyone reacts the same to different medications and it takes time to find the right one yet my Nurse says she has been on my same medication Im on and it was bad for her. It has worked all this time for me. I told her what happened to not everyone reacts the same to medications I recently had two back teeth pulled. On of which left a hole that they could see into my sinus cavity through my gums. It was excruciating pain that lasted 2 weeks. The dentist gave me 16 more powerful Vicodin that wasnt enough at all but I never called and asked for more even though the V.A. pills that I had left were for migraines which doubled with the pain of the teeth. The V.A. found out and cut my pain pills yet again. My today said he would be more than happy to talk to the V.A. about my situation. Being in that kind of pain you dont care where the relief comes from. If I get hospitalized do I have to clear treatment with the V.A. first? I am now labeled system wide that I am a drug seeker. This is far from the truth. Im getting rid of all of them on my own. I even through away my steroid nose spray Im so serious. I have been quitting all my 15 medications on my own because my doctor has no plan. It has been so hard and I have no help but they dont care. The Patient Advocate has proven useless over the years. She called me today and I just missed it but called back within two minutes. All I kept hearing was the phone being picked up then hung up, so I kept calling to no avail. I want to type up my story and contact all media while its in the news. Problem is that its hard to take on such a battle when your so sick. I feel like I owe it to my brothers in arms though. I only have Migraines 70 percent of the week. I can imagine how our heroes missing limbs as one example are being treated. This has to stop. And my experiences have been way more than this writing. Without our troops our way of life from decades ago would have turned out different. ~Ken~
