This Veterans Day, Metro West Ambulance is remembering our country’s Veterans with the message “Honoring Those Who Serve” proudly displayed on their newest 9-1-1 ambulance. With its patriotic theme and message dedicated to our military, this unique ambulance can be seen responding to emergency and non-emergency requests for help. Recently introduced into the Metro West Ambulance fleet, this 9-1-1 unit pays homage to the men and women in all branches of our military who serve. As the 9-1-1 provider in Washington County, under Washington County Emergency Medical Services, Metro West Ambulance has long wanted to find a way to honor our Veterans. These men and women have a special place in the hearts of Emergency Medical Services as the military has contributed much to the advancement of emergency medicine and prehospital care. Many Veterans have also continued to dedicate themselves to serving our country as EMT’s, Paramedics, Firefighters, Police Officers, Emergency Dispatchers and other positions in EMS. Metro West Ambulance is proud of its many employees who have served or are currently serving in our military. Metro West Ambulance itself was founded by World War II veteran, James B. Fuiten, who served in the United States Army as First Lieutenant and was the recipient of two Silver Stars. James served with Co. I of the 186th infantry, 41st division from Forest Grove and with the G. Troop of the 12th Calvary and the First Calvary division. His son, J.D. Fuiten, President of Metro West Ambulance, said that “serving his country was one of my father’s proudest accomplishments”. Proud of the company’s founder and long continuing tradition of Veteran staff , this ambulance is just one small way that Metro West Ambulance can say thank you to our Veterans for all they have done.
