Tuesday, January 13th. Bill interviews Glen Wright, Vermont expert on finance and accounting, about a surprise, thanks to the federal health care law, that may be awaiting many Vermont families as they file their tax returns this year. In the second half, Bill interviews Vermont entrepreneur Ernie Pomerleau about how estate taxes affect family businesses in Vermont, and discourage entrepreneurs from building their businesses in Vermont, and from retiring in Vermont. Wednesday, January 14th. Bill interviews Dick Heaps about the high cost of higher education, and what will happen to that cost if, as President Obama proposed this week, students don’t have to pay for the first two years of Community College. In the Second Half, Bill interviews Guy Page about the unintended consequences of proposals in Montpelier intended to promote renewable energy and tax carbon based fuels. Thursday, January 15th. Bill interviews Mary Powell, President and CEO of Green Mountain Power, about how Vermont’s largest utility strives to provide Vermont homes and businesses with electricity in a way the best balances the goals of affordability, reliability, and renewability. Friday, January 16th. Bill interviews Bruce Lisman and Allan Rodgers about Allan’s proposal for a no frills college degree, and other ways to reform higher education in Vermont, so that we can prepare our young people, and students of all ages, with the skills necessary to earn a good living, and to compete successfully in our global economy.
