Tuesday night from 7-10pm Streaming online at: freewillradio.org (Broadcasting locally at 100.9 fm on your radio dial) Normally…..…well, regularly……..ok, usually, Nazel inhabits the realms that are either rural or wild, from the makeshift and funky homesteads to the rushing and roaring mountain gorges to the beer-filled local cafes and general store. For reasons of personal, social, and generally aesthetic nature, Mr. Pickin’s feels most at home, comfortable, stimulated, and alive in these less-densely human-populated places and situations. The suburbs, and their vacuous and sterile design and spiritlessness are strictly off-limits to the Pickin’s clan, obviously. But the urban “landscape”, while representing the antithesis of what we might call “life”, does offer an interesting alien sphere to sometimes (very briefly and strategically) explore……one might possibly see a journey into babylon as a social study, personal exploration of sadistic adventure, or possibly recon for future endeavors. Anyway, as rare as it occurs, even Nazel will sometimes invade the city’s territory…..at least on the radio. This week will be one of those times. He has gotten all the recommended vaccinations, drank a gallon of elderberry wine, ate four cloves of garlic, amended his will, and brushed up on some of the latest urban etiquette, fashion, customs, and lingo…..and is headed for the heart of the beast, the city. So grab yer kevlar western shirt and steel-tipped cowboy boots, practice avoiding eye-contact, and bottle-up some real water, ‘cause this week on Mixed-Up Confusion, Nazel’s gonna be dawning his grey-shaded camo and creepin’ ‘round the urine saturated subways, seedy back alleys, and subterranean sewers that make up the epitome of human disgust and disfunction (and bad taste), the city, as the “Urban Cowboy Revisited”……..country style!
